Valerian Root
Cats are attracted to Valerian's strong smell, and react to it like catnip. When used by people, quite an opposite reaction has been noted; we don't become frisky at all, instead we relax. Despite, or perhaps because of, its strong unusual smell, it was also once a popular ingredient in perfumes.
